A Marriage Prayer

We are called to be servants.  One great example of this found in the Word of God is in John 13:14…“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.”

Jesus humbled himself to the point of washing the feet of his disciples.  How humble are we…especially with our spouse?  Are we willing to serve with humility?  Or are we more focused on “being served”?

Father, today we ask that you give us hearts to serve.  Most especially, help us to love and serve our spouse with a humble and grateful heart.  Help us to put their needs above our own, and help us to be intentional about ways to serve them, both big and small.  Humble our hearts, Father, to serve as You would serve, and to love as You would love.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
