Let all that you do be done in love. (1 Corinthians 16:14)
We are commanded to love. Our thoughts should reflect love. Our words should reflect love. Our actions should reflect love. If we are followers of Christ, love should be reflected in our lives.
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John 4:8)
God is love. He created love….this amazing human emotion that can bring us pain at times, but also bring us so much joy. When we love in the manner that God loves, the experiences and blessings are unequaled.
What keeps us from loving like God? Anger, resentment, rage, doubt, and fear get in our way. Jealousy, pride, and despair move in. Before we know it, love has been buried by all these other raw human emotions. Hope is lost, joy is not visible, and our faith plummets. The devil wins.
Let’s strive to keep our victory in Jesus. Let’s live our lives in love….love for our Father, and love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Let’s not dole out our love based on what we receive, but give it freely based on the word of God. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8). Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8)
A new year is on the horizon. May we all grasp the opportunity to live in unity and brotherly love. May we live humbly amongst our brothers and sisters with compassion and tenderness. Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. ( 1 Peter 3:8)
Beautiful!
Love this reminder! Thank you!
I just read a post today from a lady who lost her 3 yr old son a couple of weeks ago after open heart surgery. She commented that she loved her heavenly Father fiercely but didn’t like him very much. I think that sometimes it is extreme pain, or loss that affects our relationship with the Lord too. The feeling that he let us down. Didn’t heal, didn’t save, didn’t come through. We are small in our finite minds and our finite understanding of this life, this world and he sees and knows so much more. But, it is so hard for our human hearts to grasp a hold of because we are so small. Thank you for the great reminder.
